Hyrum exploring LA

Hyrum has pretty much gone back to his normal, loving life self...minus the fact that he still sleeps between John and I so that when he rolls onto his right side, we can help get him off of it as he is still not allowed to sleep on that side.  This means that as parents we are pretty much not getting any sleep and he is getting all the sleep waking refreshed with no understanding why his parents are just dragging every day!

Wednesday morning we went for a hike and found the ruins from the old LA Zoo

Thursday October 1st found us at a Car Museum called Nethercutt Museum.  It was free and not only did it have LOTS of cars, it also had a train! Hyrum loved the old cars and talked about how they were built "way back in the day".
These were just a few of Hyrum's favorite cars that he saw.

They also had a motorhome!

And the train

He was very excited to be going inside

This is how the rich traveled "back in the day"

They let him "ring the bell"

And at the end of the day...this was his favorite car

Friday October 2nd we drove around site seeing and had lunch at the Train Museum at Griffith Park. We spent a good hour there before we called it a day.
This is what happens when we spend too much time at Uncle James.  Hyrum gets creative with his "man caves"

That night, for the first time since surgery, Hyrum braved a pull over PJ top!  It didn't hurt getting on!

Saturday October 3rd, we stayed in a listened to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints General Conference.  That morning when he got dressed, he decided to try a T-Shirt (the necks are a little smaller than the PJ) and of course in all silliness, he pulled up his shorts as far as they would (and shouldn't) go!

Hyrum helped fix lights on both our car and Uncle James'. This meant washing his hands with lots of bubbles. This picture was taken after he had let the sink water out...(I was too slow in getting my camera out!)

By the end of the day, we realized we could not handle one more day of Hyrum jumping all around the furniture. This left us with seeing what else we could do and still listen to the Sunday sessions.  Hyrum also helped his dad and Uncle move boxes to the storage unit in preparation of John's brother moving.

Sunday October 4th, it was decided that we could listen to conference on the way to the Sequoia and King Canyon National Parks to see some very large trees.  This worked great for the first session, but we realized we had no reception and it would take us too long to get out of the canyon for the second session.  So we enjoyed what we could and ended up back to the house about 8 pm.  It was a long, but very fun day.  It of course rained most of the time, so we bundled up and put a hat on Hyrum since he isn't allowed to get his head wet yet.

All in All, it turned out to be a great day with good relaxation happening!

Monday October 5th, was the California Science Museum.  Hyrum loved all the hands on learning.  It was decided that he did not want to be an astronaut because he did not want to be in space to be hit by a big asteroid.  He loved the building he was able to do at the various exhibits and he got to touch various fish.

Tuesday October 6th, was the Natural History Museum and the Science Museum. The two museums are right next to each other, but the Natural History Museum is free the first Tuesday of the month. This meant we could have done both on Tuesday, but the Science Museum took all day and we never finished.  Hyrum wasn't as interested in the Natural History Museum and we only spent about 2 hours there total.  So we went back to the science museum for a late lunch (cheaper prices) and to finish up and revisit all the sites he loved.
He enjoyed a few of the live exhibits...

And a few of the not so live...

And of course, by the end of the day, there was still energy enough to play in the pillows.

Tomorrow, we have his 2 week post op appointment, we are told his mold will come off and we will learn to wash his hair to not get his ear canal wet.
