Lower Level Bathroom

Lower Level Bathroom Was horrible.  The design was bad.  So of course we fixed it.  Made everything more functional.  So here is the story...They used Linoleum Squares that were chipping (of course)
This was built to protect the plumbing for the sink. The shelf that the bowl is sitting on is the exterior wall were the washer and dryer were.  They had the shelves that were falling apart above the washer and dryer.

Under the sink...not too bad.  But the cabinet it self was not good.

.
The Toilet was next to the washer and dryer.
And the shower was non functional and had issues....inside and out.

The ceiling was open, and you could tell that they had plumbing issues...

So, of course, we had to dismantle this room also...and found lots more of our favorite thing....mold...

Rachel was a great help in taking apart the shower...

Were we continued to find even more mold...

My dad and brother helped me move the door way...and John helped with the plumbing...

And then we sheet rocked, tiled...
And then we put the toys back into a better spot.

After having the boys pee all over the place, I decided we needed to add tile to the back splash.  This was after tile and before I wiped off the grout!

Hope

But what if I hope and hope and hope and I never get what I'm hoping for?

Then all you've wasted is a bit of wishing time. But what about this? What if you hope and hope and hope, and you get what you've been hoping for? What then?

Hyrum cut his own hair

Every person has to have their first time to cut their own hair.  I'm amazed at the excuses...I'm tired of bangs, my hair was to long...It still happens.  And of course, my job as a parent is to document that moment....so here is Hyrum's moment of first time hair cutting.  I'm just amazed that he made it to the age of 7 before he did it.

And after we fixed it as best we could.
You can still see that he was still shorter than the buzz, but it wasn't as noticeable.

And the Piano Came Home

After getting the dust to settle around the house in all our moving things around.  Our piano finally "came home".  It took us a while to figure out the best location in the room, but we are pretty happy with the results.  We started by taking pictures of the room from various angles...

Then it finally hit us...and horray it fits and it's really really nice
 With room to spare!

Then I was able to unpack my boxes
And clean up under the cabinet
And the kids were very anxious to be on it again!

Sadie Hawkins Dance

Rachel decided she wanted to go to the Sadie's dance.  I, of course, was out of town when she realized that it was formal this year.  So she drew a picture of what she wanted and sent it to me.  I bought the fabric in LA and came home with less than a week to "get it done."

Of course with no pattern, we did a lot of creating and tucking.  I wasn't sure how to do the top, so I cut it extra big knowing I could take it out of the shoulders and arms.  I literally pinned the dress on her to get the front right before I sewed it up.  She loved it completely, though she was still nervous being around her mom and pins...she didn't want to be the next human pin cushion (imagine that)!

But she was very happy with the results of the front of her dress!

So then it was sewing on the flowers to the front of her dress...lots and lots of flowers!
Then it was getting the bottom to the right length, so onto a stool for her to stand while I cut the bottom a bit more straight!

She loved it SO much that she proceeded to clear a path to twirl in!  What girl doesn't want to make sure there is a twirl factor here!

Then (Lucky not in the same day) it was off to get her hair and makeup done...well maybe we should keep her home...it turned out way to well!
