Upstairs Bathroom

UPSTAIRS BATHROOM

Problems:
Mold around bath tub.
 Mold behind Toilet
 Leaky pipes in the bathtub.
Cabinets that were very old and falling apart
You can't really see it, but the whole bottom of the cabinet is wrinkled from water damage.

So of course, we had to rip it all out.  We just didn't realize how much ripping out we would be doing... Out came the cabinet.
We found dead mice in the wall behind the toilet.
And after peeling away a few tiles from around the tub, realized that the water damage and softened up and disintegrated the sheet rock...

I had reached my hand up on the sheet rock to pull tile away from another wall...and my hand went through the wall....

Found great hiding spots to laugh over!
And then another brother came over to help remove the tub!

And I got great pictures, that he put himself into...and had a hard time getting out of!

So we brought over the muscles of the group...my 15 year old nephew to help move it out of the room.

The finished product of ripping out the bathroom and mold was found (obviously).

We had to replace the outside wall all the way to the siding...

And then the fun begins as we start to put things back together...

Hyrum's Future Job!

Another Funny

In a conversation between Father and Son.

Hyrum: When I grow up I am going to be an Engineer.

John: Really! What kind of Engineer?

Hyrum: A Water Engineer.

John: Cool. What does a Water Engineer do?

Hyrum: They work with water. Take care of water, move water, clean water, make water flow.

 MASTER BEDROOM

 PROBLEMS:

Door Molding had issues:

Light was too small and needed a fan!

The Door between the Master Bedroom and the Bathroom needed to be moved because the door from the hallway into the Bathroom and this door (or what was there) banged together.  What a pain.  The light switch as you can see was on the Master Bedroom side for the bathroom.  I could just see someone in the bedroom flipping the switch with someone stuck on the toilet!  So we switched that around to the Bathroom side also!

My daughter Rachel was a good help on building the new wall!

And when it came to laying floor, it became a family occurrence! Both my parents and my 15 year old nephew came to help lay the floor! And then I left and went to work...at work!

And this is what I came home too!

I did two video's.  The first is before we started remodeling.  The next one is after we were all done!  But I can't get them to load, so they will come later.

Move to West Point

About one year ago. We were talking with our girls about various topics that we usually do. And they (like in the past) started to plead their case to move closer to family. All the reasons that we felt we "couldn't" move closer went away with John becoming self employed and can work from anywhere. Least to say we have great Lawyers for kids and they won the case.

We put our house up for sale, and sold it a month later.  We were so busy that Rachel had packed her room completely before spending the summer with my Sister Martha. When she came back at the end of the summer, were had already moved. Sarah and the boys were a great help and we moved the middle of July as we had a medical conference to attend the end of July for Hyrum in Denver and John was leaving town for another month the week after the Conference.

Then the new problem, were do we live.  We were doing an extended visit with my mom while we looked at houses.  We decided that if we were going to move up by family, then the closer the better.  So when a house came available 2 doors down from one of my brothers, we jumped on it.  It was more than we wanted to spend, and in worse shape than we have ever wanted to buy, but as they say...location, location, location!  So my brother 2 doors down lives across the street from another brother, who's backyard butts up against my parents back yard.  Another brother lives 2 "country" blocks to the north.  My in-laws live 2 miles North East of us and another sister-in-law living 3 miles directly East of us!

It has been wonderful to be around family, and has made the house worth it.  It has taken us 9 months to move into the house only because my father-in-law took pity on us and came fixed my kitchen and did all my mudding!  My mom became my slave and right hand lady as we put up walls and sheet rock! And even the nephews came to help lay down the flooring.  At one point my 3 year old nephew informed me of which room was his!

We moved into the house Mother's Day Weekend, and have loved having the space back in the house for the kids and the lovely yard that is 10 times larger than our last house!

I will post each room individually so you can see the changes that we have made.  Some rooms it was just replacing the carpet, some was moving doors, and others was putting a wall up cutting a room in half to create two rooms. We have things still to do like stairs, new roof, A/C, and finish a couple of bathrooms.  But we have a dishwasher, kitchen sink, a shower, and stove...what more do you need?

The fridge was done yesterday! And the 2nd bathroom is ready for paint!
